As I've become more proficient at using the internet and family tree programs, I realized I could upload family tree files for other peoples usage. My intent is to upload various families in files in GEDCOM file format, that is .GED. You can then download these files and import them using any family tree program through an import file function. When you do import them, make sure you create a new file name so as not to overwrite or append your own family tree file (like I did more than a few times).
These files are sanitized to provide not date information for the living for privacy reasons.
My Whole Tree: My Family Tree
Lawrence Paha's Ancestors: Lawrence Paha Who should download this file? Descendants of Rosemary (Paha) O'Brien and Joseph Paha, Larry's brother. These files eliminate Lorraine's ancestry and can be replaced with Donald O'Brien's or Pauline Zarobsky's ancestry.
Lorraine Bodinet's Ancestors: Lorraine Bodinet Who should download this file? Descendants of Anna Mae (Bodinet) Radcliffe, Lorraine's sister. These files eliminate Larry's ancestry and can be replaced with Fred Radcliffe's ancestry.
Free Family Tree Software
The .PAF format is a professional and non-generic family tree freeware sponsored by the Church of Latter Day Saints on their website at: www.familysearch.org. You can surf their site under Download/Products and Free Software. The program name is Personal Ancestral File (PAF); I would provide a link to this site, but webs tend to change. I like this program because it is easy to use and has good support from the Church of Latter Day Saints. It does not have many bells and whistles as some commercial software, but in the long run, I don't think the Mormons are going out of business like my last family tree program company did. So if you download and want to use this program, you can import the .GED files with ease..
As for using the Church of Latter Day Saints programs, I couldn't recommend any better software. I'd also include the Personal Ancestral File Companion program, a nice graphic generating tool. There is no cost, but if you want the fully functional version, there is a small fee, which I would recommend paying.
