Map of the Kestel Farms overdrawn on a map of today. Bordering up to the New Lenox and Manhattan Townships, the two farms were 120 acres each. In 1873, the town of Manhattan did not exist. The closest towns to the farms were Spencer, and New Lennox, both 2-3 miles north, northeast. Notice the railroad, it ties Mount Sterling, Will County and Chicago together.
