Some notes concerning locations:  After 1815 and prior to 1871, to be from 'Germany' would be to be from the 'Confederation of German States'.  Afterwards, following the consolidation of German states under Von Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm I, you would be from the 'German Empire'.  As for the Austro-Hungarian Empire, this name included many countries from 1871 up to WWI, including Bohemia.  As for Ireland, there was no national boundary between the north and south, but if you were from what is known as Northern Ireland today, you could be considered to be from the counties of the north, more commonly known as Ulster at that time.
